Delta-8 refers to delta-8-tetrahydrocannabinol (delta-8-THC), which is a naturally occurring cannabinoid found in cannabis plants. It is chemically similar to the more well-known delta-9-tetrahydrocannabinol (delta-9-THC), which is the primary psychoactive compound in cannabis. Delta-8-THC has a double bond on the eighth carbon atom in its molecular structure, hence the name.

Tetrahydrocannabinolic acid (THCA) is a non-psychoactive cannabinoid found in raw cannabis plants. It is the precursor to delta-9-THC and is typically present in higher concentrations in fresh, unheated cannabis. THCA does not produce the intoxicating effects associated with delta-9-THC, as it requires decarboxylation (heat exposure) to convert into its active form.

THCP, or tetrahydrocannabiphorol, is a relatively newly discovered cannabinoid. It is structurally similar to both delta-9-THC and THCA, but it has a longer carbon chain. This longer chain structure is thought to contribute to increased binding affinity to cannabinoid receptors in the body, potentially resulting in more potent effects.
